Dr. Walczak is a Clinical Psychologist who specializes in the care of eating and body image concerns in adolescents and young adults. She also specializes in supporting young people struggling through life transitions, mood and anxiety concerns, identity formation, and a variety of other life challenges. She values intersectionality and seeks to incorporate multicultural approaches to treatment. She has professional training in providing psychological evaluations with children and young adults presenting with various diagnostic concerns. It is important for her to ensure families feel evaluations are given and debriefed in a comfortable, collaborative, and non-judgmental way.

Dr. Walczak believes in creating an affirming and empowering space for young people to work as a team to achieve therapeutic goals. While integrated in her approach, she is rooted in trauma-informed and interpersonal frameworks. She often utilizes cognitive, DBT, feminist, play therapy, and motivational interviewing techniques that can be tailored to a young person’s needs. She recognizes the course of treatment is not always linear and is committed to supporting young people and their families through road bumps along the way. She believes there is always space for fun when appropriate and enjoys incorporating humor and creative expression into her practice.

Dr. Walczak has previous experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in inpatient, partial hospitalization, and residential levels of care with a variety of presenting concerns. She is familiar with supporting clients through stepping up or down from various levels of care if necessary. She has also worked extensively with college and graduate students.

When not at work, Dr. Walczak enjoys unwinding with her husband and dog outdoors hiking, reading, and enjoying the beautiful North Carolina weather. She loves hosting her friends and family, reading, playing video games, and listening to music (most likely Taylor Swift).
