I’m so glad to be here… and I’m glad you’re here, too!

Man, it’s hard work starting a private practice!  It’s been a long time coming, so I’m more than thrilled to announce that Triangle Child Psychology is opening its doors and now accepting new clients!  Owning my own private practice has been a dream of mine ever since I made the decision to become a child psychologist.  Since I made that decision long ago (it’s a long road!), I’ve been lucky to have had a wide variety of training experiences and to have worked at a number of great organizations and private practices in other states.  Now I am returning to the area of the US that I love best – yes, this beloved Triangle area of the great state of North Carolina!!  I studied at UNC – Chapel Hill for my first graduate degree many years ago, and though I moved elsewhere for various training and work experiences (and to return to graduate school a second time for child psychology), my heart never left NC.  So I finally feel at home being back in this area and I’m so excited to be doing what I am most passionate about – working with kids and their parents.

You found me for a reason and I’m so glad you’re here.  You might have some concerns about your child and may be wondering if therapy or an evaluation would be a good next step.  Or maybe you have questions about how to handle certain challenging situations with your child and just feel like you want to consult with a child development and parenting professional.  Or you may just be a very involved parent who is constantly searching for parenting resources and information to make you a better parent.  One thing I’ve definitely learned being a parent myself is that it really does take a village to raise a child!  Some of us parents don’t have the village we need, and so we feel like we have to do it all ourselves.  We may have thoughts that we *should* be able to do it ourselves… and of course we can… BUT wouldn’t it be so much easier if there was a member of our village who spent years studying child development and parenting who could help us along the way?  When you don’t have time to spend hours researching an answer to your parenting question, or you DO spend hours researching and you just can’t find the answer that fits YOUR situation with YOUR unique child, I want to be that member of your village!  I want to work with you to help you find whatever it is you need.  Yes, I do evaluations, and yes, I do some therapy too.  But if you don’t need either of those, I’m also here for that occasional guidance you need when you are feeling overwhelmed with a parenting concern and you just need someone, preferably a professional, to whom you can reach out.  My goal is to work with you to get you the information, expertise, and guidance you may need to help your child succeed.  Can I be a part of your village?

I’ll be adding content to this blog as time allows – various subjects ranging from parenting to psychology to news-related topics associated with parenting and children.  Feel free to follow me on Facebook or Twitter (links below) to get notified when I have new content.

I love feeling connected to the community, so I’d love to hear from you!  Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about my practice, need some guidance with parenting or want to know what’s going on with your kiddos, or have an idea for a topic that you’d love for me to address in my blog.  Thanks for being here with me!  I hope to meet you soon.
