Kate Ammerman, LCMHC-A

Kate Ammerman (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHC-A) in the state of North Carolina who received her Master of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Kate specializes in both developmental and psychiatric disabilities, and works from a trauma-informed approach that combines various research-supported therapy modalities including child-centered play therapy, person-centered theory, and cognitive behavioral therapy, depending on individual client needs. She has a unique background with a Bachelor of Arts in Exercise and Sport Science and training in the emergency healthcare field. Throughout her graduate school career, she received training at a child-focused mental health private practice.  She utilizes these experiences to develop holistic and evidence-based treatment plans that are specifically tailored to address a wide variety of presenting problems, promote individual strengths, and build a set of skills to help clients succeed in the future.

Kate provides individual psychotherapy for children, teens, and college students. She has experience working with a wide range of individuals presenting with ADHD, difficulty with transitions, emotional dysregulation, anxiety, depressive symptoms, and behavioral challenges. Kate is also available for parent consultations where she collaborates with caregivers in identifying parenting solutions most suitable for your family and beneficial for your child.

Kate is passionate about delivering quality care to every client and takes the time to listen to your concerns. She understands that every client has a unique set of needs and works hard with each family to develop individualized care in a safe and empathetic environment that promotes health and wellness.

Outside of work, Kate loves to spend time with her husband, friends, and family. In addition to hanging out with her favorite people, she is an animal-lover and artist who also enjoys trying new recipes, reading, spending time outdoors, and traveling the world.
