Dr. Alexa DeLisle is a licensed psychologist specializing in youth and family mental health. She has worked with both children and adolescents who have experienced a variety of concerns, such as trauma, disruptions to attachment, low mood, anxiety, and disruptive behaviors. Dr. DeLisle is also highly trained in parent education and attachment, with the goal of helping caregivers and children build strong and connected relationships. Dr. DeLisle is also passionate about infant mental health and holds unique training in developmental and social-emotional growth for infants, while providing perinatal support to caregivers.
Dr. DeLisle takes a holistic approach to her therapy work, ensuring that all aspects of an individual and family are considered to best inform treatment. As such, she practices from a philosophy of highly involving caregivers into child therapy. Dr. DeLisle integrates both attachment theory and behavioral strategies to help clients understand their emotions, develop coping skills, and engage in secure relationships. Dr. DeLisle knows how difficult therapy work can be and therefore works collaboratively with families to meet their unique needs. Dr. DeLisle has additional training in working with foster care involved families, post-adoption families, families impacted by addiction, and families who have experienced trauma or stressful events.
In her assessment work, Dr. DeLisle takes a systematic approach to finding the explanations behind each child’s experiences and symptoms. She values collecting and interpreting data, but also takes an individualized approach to gathering comprehensive information that lends to understanding each person’s unique patterns, strengths, and areas for growth. After all information is considered, Dr. DeLisle focuses on recommendations for supporting children and adolescents in reaching their fullest potential. Dr. DeLisle is specifically qualified to evaluate young children, beginning at birth, as well as children with complex experiences. She is also trained to assess for questions of Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, and global learning concerns.
In her leisure time, Dr. DeLisle enjoys being active and spending time outside. She also has two small dogs that occupy a great deal of her time.
